How much is the franchise fee?
Our franchise fee is $20,000 for non-storefront franchises. 

Franchise fees for storefront locations are $10,000 in addition to the above.
Is financing available on your franchise fee?
Yes, we offer in house financing as well as assistance with our vendors who can provide direct financing to you as well. You can also use your 401k to invest.
How long is the franchise agreement?
Our franchise agreements are 3 years for franchisees without storefront locations and 5 years for franchisees with storefront locations.
Are there any renewal fees?
No, we do not charge any renewal fees.
What do I get with my franchise fee?
You get access to use our trademarks, the ability to utilize our patent-pending process and technology, industry-leading training provided on our robust intranet, cutting-edge marketing as well as support and coaching from our executive team. You also get peace of mind knowing that your clients’ tax returns are prepared by an expert CPA, and become part of a community knowing of passionate, customer-driven franchisees across the country.
Are your CPAs able to represent the client before the IRS and are they CTEC registered? 
Yes, they are able to represent clients before the IRS and the ones preparing California returns are CTEC registered.
So why not go straight to a CPA?
A key selling point of our service is its convenience. A CPA will not typically go out to meet with customers; the customer has to go to them. Often, the customer might sit in a waiting room and, in many cases, might pay a high fee for the professional service. Our patent-pending process and technology has enabled us to lower overhead and make our fees much more affordable and transparent. For example, we only have 3 prices: $200, $300 or $500, depending on the complexity of the tax return. While some CPAs charge in that range, many charge significantly more for their services.

How much are you going to charge the clients? 
Our pricing, in line with the industry, depends on the complexity of the return. Our prices are $200, $300 or $500. We have no hidden fees; our pricing is completely transparent.
How much can I make as a franchisee? 
As a franchisor, the FTC and state law regulates when and where we can make financial performance representations. One way to think about this question is to estimate how many clients and returns you feel you can handle using our brand and resources.

You can earn between $140 and $350 for each tax return completed based on our standard pricing.
Do franchisees need to purchase any tax software? 
A franchisee will not be required to have any tax software since all of our returns will be prepared by our CPAs. We provide secured apps and programs to our franchisees in order to insure the security of our clients’ data and help increase ease and efficiency. 
How much are royalties? Any other fees? 
Our royalties are the lowest in the industry, ranging from 10-20% depending on volume. The only other fee charged to franchisees by us is the tax prep fee for preparing the return with our CPAs. These fees range from $20-$50 per return, depending on complexity.
How do you prevent people from having their information stolen?
While there is never a way to categorically prevent fraud, Happy Tax takes this issue very seriously. We take every possible precaution and measure to secure our clients’ information. Our patent-pending process and technology includes 2048 bit SSL security to eliminate the trace of private personal information. The data is never stored locally on a tablet or other computer.

Do I have to make house calls? 
The safety of our franchisees is very important to us. While we encourage house calls to make the process as convenient as possible for your clients, they are not required. In many cases, your clients will be friends, family or co-workers (or those referred to you by them), so you'll have some type of connection and level of trust.
How big will my territory be?
Franchisees who do not have storefronts will be allowed to market and conduct business anywhere in the US. Franchisees who have storefronts will be given a geographic territory of approximately 100,000 people.
How do I find clients?
We'll teach you. Once you're a franchisee, you'll take our training online and learn our marketing techniques. Word of mouth, social media, email marketing, referrals, and networking events are just some of the many ways to build your customer base. Don’t worry – we’ll show you how.
Can I open up a storefront in my first year?
Opening a storefront is a risky endeavor for a new businessperson. Even with the best support in the world, there is always a chance of failure. Signing leases and recruiting, training and hiring employees is not recommended for first-year franchisees who do not have substantial entrepreneurial experience. Unlike other franchises, we do not undertake a “churn and burn” mentality to our franchisees. We want you to succeed. Our platform empowers you to learn the business, make money and get valuable experience before growing into your own storefront location.
Do you charge any advertising fees?
Yes, we require you to contribute $1,000 to the national advertising fund in your first year and 2% of your revenue each year thereafter. We also require that you spend a minimum of $1,000 per tax season on local advertising, marketing and promotional programs. During your first tax season, you must spend $2,000 to help get the word about your new business. This measure is based on years of industry experience. We'll teach you which marketing and advertising methods offer a good return on investment to help your business grow. 
What are the minimum yearly requirements?
For first-year franchisees, the minimum yearly royalty is $4,000. For second-year franchisees, the minimum yearly royalty is $6,000. For third-year franchisees, the minimum yearly royalty is $8,000. 
How experienced is the executive team?
Our CEO has successfully operated 100 storefront tax offices across the country. He started out in the tax business back in 2003 and has been an entrepreneur since 1998. He has personally coached hundreds of tax business owners and franchisees in his role as an area developer and consultant. His tax offices have consistently grown year over year and he has won many awards for the operation of his tax business.
How are my clients tax questions handled?
When any of your tax clients have a question, they can video chat, email or call one of our CPAs or internal client concierges. Although your tax knowledge will grow organically, you won’t need to know the ins and outs of the tax code. Our team of experts is here to support you.
What happens if a client gets audited?
We are staffed with an internal audit team to handle all audits. This gives your clients peace of mind and affords you the confidence that the services we provide are guaranteed.
